"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." — Galatians 2:20 (ESV)
Paul writes this after confronting Peter to his face — because when the gospel of grace alone is diluted, everything is at stake. His defense is this verse: the old Paul, the scorekeeper, the man justifying himself by performance, was crucified with Christ. He no longer lives. What lives in him now is Christ Himself, received by faith in the Son of God — and notice how personal it gets: "who loved me and gave himself for me." Not for humanity in the abstract. For me. That is the ground of every stand a Christian ever takes: not "I am strong enough," but "I am His — bought and indwelt." If Christ lives in you today, you do not face anything today alone, or in your own strength, or for your own glory. You face it as someone who has already died — and whose life is now Christ's own.
