"Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand." — Psalm 95:6–7
It is the Lord's Day, and the psalm tells us how the day begins: not with noise, but with knees on the ground. "Let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker." Worship starts in the body before it rises to the lips — we bow because of who He is. He is our Maker; we did not make ourselves, and we do not sustain ourselves. And He is our Shepherd-King: we are "the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand." The hand that made us is the hand that feeds us. So before the songs, before the sermon, before the week gets its hands on you — come. Bow down. The Maker is also the Keeper, and He is worthy of the first hour of the first day.
