"I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel." — Genesis 3:15
The first gospel ever preached was preached in a garden, to a serpent, in the hearing of two people who had just ruined everything. Before there were sacrifices, prophets, or a people called Israel, God announced the end of the story: a child born of the woman would crush the serpent's head — and be wounded in the crushing. Every promise after this one is a footnote to it. Bethlehem is Genesis 3:15 keeping its appointment; so is the cross, where the heel was bruised, and the empty tomb, where the head-crush was confirmed. If your life feels like the garden after the fall — hiding, ashamed, afraid — hear the first word God spoke into that world. It was not a verdict. It was a promise. And it has been kept.
